step 1: write square of last digit. step 2: square of first two digit+(2 x first digit x last digit) + last digit. example : 256 x 256 1. write 6 x 6 = 36 2. 25 square is 625 so 625+(2x2x6)+6=655 so answer is 65536

Multiplying two 3-digit numbers

I'm not sure how to do this, and I ran into it on an UIL 2010 NS test... 213*411=___________ I was thinking that 3 digit multiplication would be a bit tedious, and was hoping that maybe there was some specific trick to multiplying by 411 or by 213...please help!
