I finally went to invite b

Yay!

Lets see, I believe UIL B came out on Feb 10th, so this is old news to you guys, but I'll post anyway...

Here are my results/commentary

Number Sense: 232 (1st Place) - I've been waiting a loooooooooooong time to make up for invite A, and I say that this score proves I dont suck. It's also a personal best in competition for me. I did 59 and missed 7. For some reason, I felt really relaxed throughout the entire contest, despite the fact that the guy in charge started the contest AS SOON as everyone had a test. I was adjusting my timer, and he said quite casually, "Go." I didnt start until I heard other papers rustling, and I was like "Oh SH*T!" It was cool though. I got stumped on a few questions, but I was able to get things written down. If I didn't get stumped, I bet I could've gone to 70. Anyway, this was the test that made my day worthwhile. The next highest score was a 127. Redemption is sweet.

Calculator: 199 (1st Place) - SOOOOOO close to the allusive 200. I of course did 65 and missed 18, with 18 mostly being problems in the stateds I didnt get to. Had I gotten just one of the two crunchers I missed correct, I would've had my 206. Gosh!  I'll take it though. Its the highest score I've ever had in competition, and I am very proud of that.

Mathematics: 214 (2nd Place) - A bit deflated from last test, but at least its over 200. I went soooo slow on this test. I was angry at myself. I did 41 and missed 4. There were some questions that confused me because I didnt know exactly what Mr. White was asking for. I also didnt know what the word Transcendential meant. There were some other things that generally slowed me down as well, and when I get thrown off my groove, I dont perform as well as I should. The first place guy beat me with a 224, and I know that I could have bested that score had I not been retarded. I am pleased with this score though.

Science: 270 (5th Place) - I was completely scrapping for time on this test. I had only an hour to take it in order to make the comp sci test, so I had to really rush through the chem and physics sections. I didnt think that I was gonna make top ten iniatially (10th place was a 212) because MacArthur and Reagan brought all their big guns. It was amazing. James Carpenter got a 360. Thats right... A PERFECT SCORE. Not even Kieren Fitzgereld was able to pull that off. MacArthur had 3 scores over 300... It just wasnt even fair. They had a team score of1,010. YOU CANT BEAT THAT! (And no, they didnt cheat, I talked to their coach about it). I was pleased with my rushed performance, but I know I could've squeezed some more points out of that test given some more time. I think science might be my ticket to state this year.

Computer Science: 176 (1st Place) - Pitiful... I made lots of dumb mistakes and still got a trophy for it. I need to start studying again in CS, cuz this was by no standards a good solid 1st place score. Yarg!

So yeah, all in all a great day. I really had fun, and the meet director was the nicest person in the world. She gave me a ham sandwitch,  cookies, and lots of donuts! She was incredibly nice, and understanding of my passion in UIL. I wish there were more people like her in UIL, cuz she made the whole experience fantastic.

Zack

Congrats on everything. Especially NS, 232 is awesome, and you've basically improved how much I did for a whole year in just a few weeks. Kudos for that. If you keep up the good work, it'd be really interesting at TMSCA State then--you, Michael, and me. And it's good that you only missed 7; keeping the number of mistakes low is a key to success.

It's such a coincidence that you encountered exactly what I encountered in T-M. The lady said "Start!" when I had just put the battery into my timer. I had to shove everything on my desk to the floor, including the timer. As second after second slipped away, the lady watched with concealed ecstasy. (I made this part up) It cost me at least 7 or 8 seconds.

I'm glad that you had fun. My day wasn't as great. For the first time in 3 1/2 years, I'm sick. I opened the window last night without adding an extra blanket. At about 5 in the morning, I woke up chilling all over. Soon after I got up and added another blanket, I started burning. And my cranial pressure and skin sensitivity went up drastically.

I got up with a sure fever, but I still went to Austin because Austin (the person) agreed to take times off to show my parents and me around, and I could't possibly just cancel it. Poor Austin, I felt so bad for him because he was gladly and painstakingly showing us around the campus but I was just too sick and weak to enjoy the trip fully. My dad talked a lot with him, but I didn't because I was trailing behind trying to follow them. He led us into a restaurant he liked a lot for lunch, but I couldn't even eat anything because I had no appetite at all. We could have done a lot more had I not been exhausted merely after 2 hours of slow-walking.

Before I left, I had the pleasure to meet Wes, though... I can't appreciate and apologize to Austin enough. But anyway, I need to get well before the interview on Monday. I can't show up with my smile weak, voice hoarse, confidence dampened, and spirit extinguished, and be overwhelmed with chills and the pulsation in my head from any tiny movement.
LoL, I'm not dying. But I gotta bounce back, and I will.

It is a pleasure to hear that you enjoyed the day, Zack. And my congrats again.
Best Wishes
