I hope you are ready for a new and exciting year in NS. Just to kick you off I have created 2 tests that I need evaluated. Starting this year, math-magic.com will have tests available for purchase. I haven't quite figured out how to do it yet, but I will soon. Also, I have decided not to do the walkthroughs as they are too time consuming plus you can find all the information on the website anyway.
So here are the first 2. A 3rd will be on the way soon.
hello...it's been long since the last time i was here, how was your vacation? i just took a look at your new test and they are awesome, great job. i am looking forward to this year's ns, because we are in a very competitive district/ region....
My vacation was great. I am back in the States now and really having a hard time getting used to a new work schedule where I have to work at least 40 hours a week. That cuts off a lot of time I could devote to my site and making the tests. I am a little disappointed because I had so much fun doing all of it.
Now I am not sure if I will be able to continue making tests or not. I see that Leo Ramirez is not putting his stuff on the Net and its about time for Doug Ray to bring his series out, so I don't know if there is any need for me to write. They are very time consuming.
We'll see though. I am still excited about the new year and seeing how everyone competes after the summer and seeing if any of my new tricks show up on the UIL stuff.
I looked at your Test 2 and think that it is a very good test. In my opinion I think that it is more the in medium hard to hard category. This would be an excellent test for a UIL Regional or State contest. I would encourage to write tests if time permits it. If you plan to make it a money making project I would encourage you to sell the tests in packets of 10. You could advertise them on your web site. You could also consider selling them in packages of 5 tests. Good luck and thanks for what you do on behalf of coaches.
I think it is so funny that you are telling me this when you and your team were my idol when I was in HS. I really appreciate your kind words more than you know. But it was your tests and books that helped me the most. Along with my AWESOME coach, LaDora Aufill. Don't know if you remember her or not, but she was as close to me as a grandmother.
I really did think about writing tests, but the more I looked on the internet, the more I saw that there were plenty of tests out there. I wanted to create a resource site anyway that would be free to anyone who loves math like I do. Being able to manipulate numbers and methods beyond the usual way of teaching is what excites me. You can put a lot of imagination into math, contrary to what some believe.
Plus, I do not want you looking on me as your competitor, because I know I would most certainly lose...
I spent a lot of time on the phone with Mrs. Aufill. She would call to either order materials from me or ask me questions about problems appearing on the UIL Number Sense tests. Not to long ago I talked to her and although she is retired she wanted to order some materials to help someone (could possibly be a relative).
I would not see you as a cometitor. I feel that both of us a providing a service to students and teachers around the state. I think that your web site is the best one for Number Sense that I have seen.
