The Unversity Interscolastic League number Sense Test, J series rounds down at 5. This is contrary to all text books I have seen. I have seen this on 4 separate practice tests.
Example : 65000 rounds to 60000 (most textbooks round to 70000)
Is the question related to significant figures? In science people are taught to round to the even number when reporting a certain number of significant figures. So for example 2.5 would round to 2 (not 3) when reporting 1 significant figure, but 3.5 would round to 4 (not 3).
