This is definately a good sign. Next year, you stand more than a good chance at taking it all with scores over 300. You have control of your own destiny this upcomming year with those kind of scores. I really hope you place top three next year. Very few NSers are as tenacious as you. Your dedication will pay off dearly next year. Good luck and keep it up!
GIT-'R-DONE, Nitesh! Sigh, looks like 4A's era's gone, at least for a lil while... but that's not my business nomo. What kinda tests are you doing? If it's Dr. Numsen, then it's my honor and pleasure to announce that you've reached my level and are going strong to Brad's level. BEST WISHES!!
Well... There was a mic at TMSCA state if you remember correctly. And I believe it was YOU Sam, that commendeered the mic this year. You stole the show when you announced Micheal's name for the TMSCA scholarship recievers. I think Nitesh should do that next year for NS, and then slip in a quick, "Math-Magic rulez!!!"
Nitesh, have you started looking over the UIL Mathematics contest? If you havent, I'd advise you to take that contest under your scrutiny as well. Your meteioric rise in NS leads me to believe that you could do likewise with the mathematics contest. I kinda wish I had given the math contest a better look at because the tests that Mr. White gives are downright easy. As in NS, it comes down to speed and precision with his math contest, and I believe that you can, as Brad did, become godly in the ways of the math contest if you take the last two seasons of the test aside and comb through them one question at a time. Going into next year, you'll be unstopable in 3A in both contests if you play your cards right.
LOL, How many times do I have to tell you that I did NOT use the mic, not even to say commandeering it, when I announced Michael. Mrs. Griffin held the mic, and I did NOT just went and grabbed it from her. I have no recollection of it, but I do remember that I was lucid at the moment. And I didn't STEAL it; Mrs. Griffin was so overwhelmed with joy that she was having trouble speaking without choking on tears. So I just stood there and spoke sonorously, is all. On the other hand, I'm sure Nitesh will do WAY better than me. He gon take it over fo sho. Ain't I right, Nitesh?
I didn't touch the mic, or did I? ... ZACK, STOP MESSIN' WIT MY MIN'! ... Best Wishes
P.S: Amen on that, you should look into math. You've got a good foundation from NS, you're hardworking, and to top it off, you're Indian; you have it in you, man.
Hey guys sorry i havent replied in a while. ive been crazy busy. wooo. thank yall so much. yep im looking at the math tests too. idk how well thats gona work tho. haha i have math in me cuz im indian ehh? thas funny. Numbersense tests. wow its been crazy. im finally where i wana be. for now. lol. im takin Dr. Numsen tests. My scores are varying from around the low 300s to about the 350s. i made a 364 on one of them but that was just luck i guess. im trying really hard and ever since UIL state, ive taken a test everyday. ill prolly start workin on math now. and i may even start thinkin bout calculator. i want to try it out. lol. but thats basically where i am rite now. crazy stuff.
And if i do win state next year, ill be so excited i may even take this whole microphone thing into consideration. hahahaha. you guys are too funny.
Thanks for everyones help here.
I already have my goals for the next UIL year all set out. Get first at UIL A and B. and at district. and regionals. oh and at state. and at TMSCA state. and somewhere in there, itd be nice to have a 400. lol. =]
I'd say you go into CA, cuz seriously, math is really not that much. And mark my word, CA combined with NS will get you far. And CA really doesn't take long to improve if you work your rear end off--look at Chris and where he went--MIT!! I'd say go for it.
Im seriously gona work my tail off. Yeah this stuff really can help me. and i enjoy it. sumtimes. lol. i made a 373 on a test today!!! but it was marked Easy. darn. oh well. its good for me. anyways i hope yall are doin good. im so tired...lol.
Well... Don't overdo it. You cant expect to work everyday of the summer on math, you gotta have fun too! Congrats on the 373! Pull one of those at a meet, and others (not including Brad of course) will be hard pressed to score that highly.
Hey Brad... I forgot when you first started doing NS. It was relatively recent that you became a NS god, right? I ask because Nitesh's rise in NS reminds me of your own.
Zack do you mean like where i wana go to college? or what i want to major in?
Haha you cant compare me to Brad. Im not good enough for a comparison like that.
I wont overdo it. I mean out of the whole day i probably spend like almost an hour on math. tha rest of tha time im partyin like a rockstar and chillin with ma homies.
haha, nice Brad. It only took you about a year then to perfect your skills, and probably about half a year for science, math, and calc. Dang... You're a quick study.
Nitesh, I meant what colleges do you plan on applying to. If you're looking to make it into the ivys you should probably spend alot of this summer doing something extraordinary like finding an internship at a local office of some kind. The best time for resume building is during the summer. I wish that I could have my junior year summer back to do over again, because I know that if I would have found an internship at the capital or something like that I would've stood a much better chance at getting into the ivys that I tried to get into. I banked too heavily on being well rounded (state soccer player, woooot, and UIL stuff/all my other extracurriculars + being salutatorian) and I got turned down by all but Duke and Vassar. I know now it was because I wasnt interesting enough to get into those prestigious universities. I was like all the other applicants as far as test scores and aptitudes, but I didnt really have any foot that I could really put forward, or a story that could help me get in. I also lacked real world experience (ie a job or something like that). Anyways, I'm just saying that you should look ahead if you havent done so already.
I havent decided where i want to go yet. I would love to go to an ivy leauge school. idk yet. ive been doing a lot of volunteer work and stuff like that. dont have a job. still 15. lol. But i really want to go to one of the ivys. do you mind giving me some more advice on how to get into those prestigious universities. as of the end of my sophomore year, i am tied for the valedictorian status. crazy stuff. do you mind givin me some more advice and help?
Well, don't worry about your standardized test scores (cuz you'll do well on them anyway) but focus on putting together your resume and writing your essay; try your best to show them who you are--1. it shows that you care about your app and thus being part of the school's future, 2. it helps them tremendously to make the decision whether their school is a match for you. Do not underestimate or overestimate yourself and think that you can fool them--you can't cuz mostly likely they're smarter than you are and most definitely they're more experienced than you are. Trust them--they know what they're doing--so all you need to do is to put yourself out there. Your essay must be polished, and by that I don't mean using big words (I don't remember putting big words in there.) My experience with Harvard shows that what Harvard wants to know is your LIFE, so give them what they want by effectively expressing yourself. Always be truthful and confident about the truth.
Okay. Im gonna try my best on the essay. i doubt i will have any chance of getting into HARVARD, but its worth a shot i guess. Sam and Zack. What are yall planning to major in?? sorry for being nosy.
Sam you said not to worry about standardized scores, but mine arent that great rite now. The last time i took the ACT was Christmas of my 9th grade year. Scores are as follows: Reading 23, English 25, Science and Reasoning 27, and Math 30. Im taking it again this Saturday. woooo! so much fun! nooottt! lol.
I didn't take the ACT, and my best SAT score is 2150, which is by no means impressive--I just suck at 25-min-BS essays. I have no idea what I'll major in. Zack, what will you major in? Be confident about yourself, I didn't even dream about having a chance at Harvard, but heck, I got in. It's defly worth a shot. Best Wishes
