ok zack and i got something here.
1^3=1=1*1
1^3-2^3+3^3=20=4*5
1^3-2^3+3^3-4^3+5^3=81=9*9
1^3-2^3+3^3-4^3+5^3-6^3+7^3=208=16*13
1^3-2^3+3^3-4^3+5^3-6^3+7^3-8^3+9^3=425=25*17...
line them up:
1*1
4*5
9*9
16*13
25*17... a pattern surfaces
Try the negative ends:
1^3-2^3=-7=1*-7
1^3-2^3+3^3-4^3==-44=4*-11
1^3-2^3+3^3-4^3+5^3-6^3=-135=9*-15
1^3-2^3+3^3-4^3+5^3-6^3+7^3-8^3=-304=16*-19
line them up:
1*-7
4*-11
9*-15
16*-19...
Ergo, the answer to the above-proposed question should be 2 more terms down that sequence, id est, 36*-27=-972
