Can someone please explain how problems like the following are solved.

A is 10% less than B and B is 20% more than C. A is what % more than C?

If A is 10% more than B and B is 10% less than C, then A is what % less than C?

Larry white has been writing these questions in the form:

A =mB and B = nC where m and n are constants

to solve, plug nC into the first equation to get A = mnC

 multiply mn and you will have A is equal to (mn) % of C - manipulate from there

A = .9B   B = 1.2C

A = .9(1.2)C
A = 1.08 C

A is 8% more than C

A = 1.1B  B = .9C
A = 1.1(.9)C
A = .99C

1% less
