Klein Oak... about 12 schools there. NS - 310 80/10 some of the problems threw me off... especially the very first one :P made some dumb mistakes like 32/2 = 18 and 68+162 = 250. klein's two top scores were two 355s CA - 152 65/25 finished number crunchers in a comfortable 14:10... went back to the first page of stated and i only knew how to do one immediately... and i put the answer down in the wrong form. I thought the stateds were really hard and that I was sucking badly. I need to redeem myself. MA - 172 30/1 these are much harder than larry white tests SC - 196 - the question about capillaries should have been N.O.T.
grabbed 1st in all 11th grade events and top physics/chemistry
The two 355s in NS were from Klein? or Oak? How hard the test is just doesn't matter to them people huh! Congrats on scores and your lotza medals! I'll be on the stage next weekend, hope it'll be TMSCA 9 and hope I won't be raped by it. Looking forward to it. Meanwhile, my Best Wishes
Yeah, I don't see Klien Oak putting up scores of 355. They're good, but not that good. I don't think that their team will make it to state this year because they're in 5A. They'll be destroyed by Klien, no doubt about it. Anyway, good luck to you next weekend Sam. I highly doubt that you'll do poorly on any of the 4 or 5 tests you're bound to be taking. Just make certain that you destroy so much in math and number sense that your momentum will carry your destruction into the remaining tests.
Oh, and a note about the tests - The NS test this weekend wasn't that hard, it just had a bunch of questions that I didnt really expect. It had a strange rhythm to it, and I felt kinda weird when time was called. It wasnt hard or slow, just different. The calculator test on the other hand, was EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. They asked pretty much every question that our team hadn't studied, and it murdered a few people. You know you're in for a hard test when the first geometry question asks for the area of a sector. I mean come on, thats just mean. The rest of the test was like that too. I usually get the first 3 pages of stateds done, and then go on to pick out easy questions from the last few pages. On this test, I didnt finish a single page. I had to skip around like crazy. I hate doing that because it rattles me. Another reason why I did so poorly was the fact that there was this kid in our testing room using a Ti-83 as fast as he could on the crunchers. It was so clicky that I had trouble concentrating. All that I could think about was how loud the clicking was, and how fast he was going. It made me miss about 8-10 crunchers, which is just plain unacceptable. The sad part about this is that my 115 beat that kid. My worries went unrealized. Anyway, I thought the math test was easier than past TMSCA tests... but my problem was that I kept making stupid mistakes in my algebra. It slowed me down immensely, and well... it got to me. I could've done much better had I not been slowed down by a few questions in the middle. The Science test had a much easier biology section than I was expecting, as well as an easier chem section. The part that bothered me was the physics section. I skipped 9 I believe, and scored a miserable 42. That 42 got me the top physics award, but honestly I was kinda embarrassed. Eh, I was only one question behind Brad overall, so I'm happy. The computer science test was difficult too. The second place score at a meet with many 5A school of regional quality in CS was a 128. That kind of speaks for how hard the test was. I got a 200, and I'm still kind of confused over how exactly that happened. Well, I guess my trend of doing well when I represent my school and not doing well when I dont continues (*Knocks on wood*).
Well, Zack, if you are a "no expectation without representation" kind of individual, then that makes it essential to bring few other responsible and behaving people from your school to T-M to make a team. Best Wishes
